Organization Development Workshop Concluded at Biratnagar

31 Aug 2016, 2 days NTUC/FES joint Regional level workshop on Organization Development concluded in Biratnagar, Morang.  There were 50 key union officials of districts level committees of 11 districts of Eastern region, namely Jhapa, Ilam, Pachthar, Taplejung, Terathum, Dhankuta, Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur, Saptari, Sankhuwasabha and Nepal Tea Garden Workers Union. President of NTUC Khia Nath Dahal, vice President Ganesh Niroula, Vice President (women) Rama Paudel, General Secretary Mahendra Pd. Yadav, Deputy Treasurer Janardhan Niroula, NTUC Eastern Regional President Narayan Babu Karki, Executive Officer Tilak Jang Khadka were the key facilitator of the workshop session. The workshop has identified several issues including constitution revision and inclusion of constitutional "Labour Commission", similarly adoption of social security Act, and revision of labour law are the urgent attention. During the session President Khila Nath Dahal gave instruction to its districts, regional and affiliates to strengthening the internal and external communication, update of membership, collection of views on NTUC constitution revision. Further he added on the contemporary labour issues which are being faced by the grassroots union activities. FES Nepal representative Mr. Chandra Dev Bhatta has highlighted on the workers issues which are the back bone of just society.  He said that we are getting remittance and we are importing good from foreign country. Our remittance is even not sufficient to pay the balance of payment and trade deficits. Now, here we need to think that all national actions including trade unions should support and campaign of production to do so labour power is to be used and employment will be created. NTUC has been focusing on organizing in grassroots and creating verifiable online database of its members, Mr. Mahendra Pd. Yadav General Secretary of NTUC said in his session. The database will be the key elements to provide welfare facilities to its members. NTUC has already concluded 2 workshops with affiliates unions in Kathmandu and this is the 1st regional workshop of a series. The next workshop will be held in Kathmandu for Bagmati Region which includes eight districts namely Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Sindhupalchowk, Nuwakot, Dhading, Rasuwa  Ramechhap and Dolakah. The seminar was supported by the trade union solidarity support organization FES Nepal.
