"Decent Work and Sustainable Development Goals: Trade Union Concerns"

Nepal Trade Union Congress (NTUC) organized an interaction program on the occasion of World day for decent work" (WDDW). Since last three years, NTUC has been organizing this event as a regular program and this year's slogan was "End Corporate Greed".  Mr. Khila Nath Dahal, NTUC President stressed issue like workers trade union rights including rights to strike. Expressing unions' disagreement on the recent bill related industrial act that hindered the trade union rights of workers, Mr. Dahal also as a president of Joint Trade Union Coordination Committee (JTUCC) in Nepal. He also reminds the press statement that issued by the JTUCC concerning the industrial act ignored the sense of tripatriate concern which was under the process of enactment.

Mr. Khagendra Khatri, Head of education department and Central committee member of NTUC chaired the program. Mr. Mahendra Prasad yadav, General Secretary of NTUC made a presentation on decent work. He highlighted the points of sustainable development goals and trade union concerns. He further stressed for the need of strong road map as well as social dialogues to fulfill these goals.

Mr. Yogendra Kunwar gave the importance of decent work and the importance of it in the transparency of the organization Mrs. Similarly, Rama Poudel, women vice-president of NTUC identified target groups to combat vulnerable situation as poverty, unemployment and gender disparity. The speech was applauded by 40 attendees of the program.
