International Workers' Memorial Day and Inaugural of Photo Gallery Exhibition Jointly organized

 

April 28, 2017, Kathmandu.

On the Occasion of International OSH day, Nepal Trade Union Congress Youth Committee organized photo exhibition in order to raise awareness in the Occupational Health and Safety. The program was inaugurated by energetic and charismatic Nepali Congress young leader and incumbent Health Minister Mr. Gagan Kumar Thapa. The program was chaired by NTUC President Mr. Khila Nath Dahal, Chief Guest Mr. Gagan Kumar Thapa (Health Minister), Special Guest Mr. Richard Howard (Director of ILO Nepal), Andrea Keikens (General Secretary of WSM from Belgium). Other attendees in the program was the representatives of NTUC Mr. Ramjee Kunwar (Senior Vice-President), Mr. Ganesh Prasad Niraula (Vice-President), Mr. Ayodhya Yadav (Vice-President), Mr. Mahendra Prasad Yadav (General Secretary), Mr. Yogendra Kunwar (Treasurer), Ms. Rama Poudel (Women Vice-President), Mr. Ganesh Bahabur K.C (President of FIEUN), Ms. Sudha Dahal (President of NTUC Women Committee), Ms. Bhagwati Khadka Thapa (President of NBU) along with the central members and members of Nepal Trade Union Congress were presented in the program.

During the Program, Mr Dahal said that, OSH is a major issue of labor in Nepal and we are always working in it. Similarly, "It is also the responsibility of health ministry and we are ready to work with NTUC, government of Nepal is preparing the social security bill to address the issue of labour" said Mr. Thapa. Likewise, Mr. Andrea mentioned that, "The partnership with NTUC has been a great deal in terms of OSH awareness and we are happy to elongate the partnership and ready to extend our support up to 5 years." Also, Mr. Howard stressed the assistance to ally in terms of OSH situation in Nepal and also asked for the joint effort to work with. Accordingly, Mr. Yadav told the international status of OSH in various sectors and call for assistance in Nepal. 

Mr. Rom Khadka, Vice-President of OSH department of NTUC formally started the program while NTUC youth committee president Mr. Baldev Tamang presented the program. The photo gallery was observed by every guest who consists of vulnerable, unsafe workplace of related sectors from 25 affiliated Union of NTUC as well as from informal sectors. The program will continue for 3 days, Mr. Tamang added.
