Nepal Trade Union Congress celebrated International Cooperatives Day

July 1, 2017, Kathmandu.

On the occassion of International Cooperatives Day, Nepal Trade Union Congress Cooperatives and Skill Development / Education Department orgaanized the interaction program at NTUC seminar hall, Anamnagar, Kathmandu. The program was chaired by NTUC cooperatives and skill development department Coordinator Mr. Aatma Ram Poudel. NTUC women vice president Ms. Rama Poudel, NTUC Treasurer Mr. Yogendra kumar kunwar, Vice president of FIEUN Mr. Basudev Khatri, President of Nepal Beautician Union Ms. Bhagwati Khadka, President of Nepal Home Based Workers Union Ms. Usha Bhandary, President of Nepal Printing Press and Allied Workers Union Mr. Indramani Upreti, Coordinator of NTUC education department Mr. Khagendra Khatri, Senior Vice-President of Agriculture Wokers Union of Nepal Mr. Kishor Gautam, President of NTUC Kathmandu Mr. Ganesh Bhattarai were special guest during the program.

Mr. Tilak Jung Khadka, Executive Officer of NTUC welcomed the participants and explained about the program. He also provided brief introduction about the cooperatives and linked with the organization. Meanwhile, he opened the floor for the participants and made the session interactive later on. Mr. Indra Yadav, Nirmal Tamang, Ganesh Bhattarai, Kishor Gautam, Indra Mani Upreti raised the query regarding the sustainability of cooperatives in the present context. The challenges of NTUC in exxpansion of the cooperatives were also discussed and highlighted during the period. Money Laundering, Black money were some kinds of serious concen put by the participants.The commitment mong the people these days are null, they are not faithful towards their chore activities and we are adversely facing the difficulties in the sustainability of the cooperavties were focued during the interaction session. 

Later, Mr. Basudev Khatri, Yogendra Kumar Kunwar, Indramani Upreti tried to clear the queries of the interaction session. They all mentioned the challenges to commit in Trade Union. People are still not clear about what Trade Union, they still think that it will bring adverse effect if this organization enters in the society. Therefore, we have to trust each other and disgard the negative thoughts within ourselves, were the response from the guest.

Lastly, Mr. Aatma Ram Poudel gave final remarks. He told that the program were decided in the niche of time. But, to this many of the participants and the excitement, it seems that the program has created some sorts of outcomes, he stressed. The 4-5 long hour program were attended by almost 40 people.
